Manchester United reignite interest in RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko

Manchester United have reignited their interest in signing RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko.

The Red Devils wanted to sign the Slovenian last summer but he opted to stay at the German club.

However, United are back in the transfer race for Sesko as he is on their shortlist of targets this summer, per journalist Ben Jacobs. Nicolas Jackson and Ollie Watkins are two other names being discussed at the Manchester club.

The 22-year-old has been earning rave reviews with his performances in the Bundesliga since joining Leipzig in the summer of 2022 for a fee around €24 million.

Over the last two seasons, he has scored 39 goals and provided eight assists in 87 appearances across all competitions.

Sesko struck 13 goals in 33 Bundesliga matches in 2024-25, helping his team finish seventh in the table.

The Slovenia international is a modern striker who boasts great physical and technical qualities. He is highly rated for his aerial dominance, link-up play, dribbling skills and goalscoring prowess.

Given his significant role at Leipzig, the club are not willing to sell the striker unless they receive a huge offer.

They are also in a strong negotiating position, with the player having four years left on his contract at the Red Bull Arena.

United failed to land Sesko’s services last summer, but latest transfer rumours suggest they considering making a move for him again.

The huge asking fee means Ruben Amorim’s side will have to make sales before initiating a move for the 22-year-old.

Arsenal have also been linked with Sesko, but it appears they have ended their pursuit as they are close to signing Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres.
